This is the first in a collection of videos produced for the TIME magazine series,"The Influencers," which captures conversations between two influential people as they discuss an important topic. 

This piece features a conversation between Deepwater survivor, Mike Williams, and actor, Mark Wahlberg, at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

Williams is a survivor of a 2010 disaster where 11 people lost their lives when the offshore oil drilling vessel, Deepwater Horizon, exploded. Williams was one of the last people to escape the drilling rig. The explosion lead to an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which became the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.

Wahlberg plays Williams in the 2016 film, "Deepwater Horizon," which is based on the New York Times article, "Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hours."

In this video, the two men talk about the motivation to tell this particular story, the human cost of acquiring resources, bringing the spotlight back around to honor those who were lost and what it means to be a hero.
